The origins of Khaled and Maha in the Al-Kitaab textbooks. Professor Abbas Al-Tonsi discusses their story as a skeleton that holds the chapters together. Amr Saad, the actor who plays Khaled in the second edition videos, made his debut with the Al-Kitaab role and went on to act in numerous plays, films, and tv shows. Maha is played by Miyan Karam and has since left the acting field, according to Al-Tonsi.

No, I have no Arab roots. I learned Arabic “from scratch” in Dubai.

Mostly Saudi/Hijazi…but sometimes more of a “white Arabic”–meaning, a more universally understood version of Arabic with elements from multiple dialects.
